When Done for Thee

Alfredo Litiatco

The greatest tasks most trifling seem
     When done for thee, my dear;
And for the self-same reason great
     The trifling ones appear.

Thus picking up a handkerchief,
     Or pulling up a chair,
Become, when, 'tis for thee, a most
     Important affair.

Whilst setting out to face the world,
     To fight one's way to fame,
Chills not but rather fires
     If essayed in thy name.
